Alison Rhea’s class from Ingomar Attendance Center, Lisa Byers’ class from Myrtle Attendance Center and Brandi Cooper’s class from West Union Elementary attended MSU’s Wood Magic Science Fair on Friday, Oct. 25. The Fair, celebrating its 31st year, educates the next generation about forest products. Third and fourth graders from across the state were on campus to learn about forestry and the importance of forest products. Students were taught that wood is renewable, recyclable, biodegradable and durable in an exciting and engaging format. The Wood Magic Science Fair was hosted by the university’s Department of Sustainable Bioproducts in the College of Forest Resources. Sponsors included the Mississippi Forestry Association; the Mississippi Lumber Manufacturers Association; the Sustainable Forestry Initiative; Viance, LLC and the Mississippi State Forest and Wildlife Research Center.
