Correction:  An earlier version of this article, printed in the Friday, June 8, 2018 issue of the New Albany Gazette, stated that the Blue Springs Board of Aldermen voted to transfer money into the police department budget.  The measure, while put forward in a motion and seconded, did not pass.

The board, at the recommendation of Mayor Rita Gentry, voted to approve Jo Abbott for the court clerk position. Gentry told the board that Jan Musgrove, the town’s clerk and court clerk, has accepted a similar position for the town of Myrtle. While she will remain as Blue Springs’ town clerk also, the size of the court docket is more than she can handle with her new position. Gentry told the board the budget would not be affected because money was already included in it for a court clerk to work two days a week.
