GAINESVILLE, Florida — In the blink of an eye, everything Ole Miss worked so valiantly for in the last month has seemingly vanished. And all the Rebels who stood on the field as Florida celebrated its monumental upset Saturday afternoon — head coach Lane Kiffin, senior quarterback Jaxson Dart, starters and backups alike — will likely spend a long time wondering about what could have been this year.

Trailing by seven with less than 30 seconds to play with the ball at midfield and a chance to send the game to overtime, Dart was intercepted for the second time in as many possessions by the Gators, sealing a 24-17 Florida win over No. 9 Ole Miss at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium as two-score underdogs. The loss likely ends the Rebels’ bid for the College Football Playoff, just two weeks after they got themselves right back into the picture with a win over then-No. 3 Georgia.
