Evergreen resident Pat West waited six months before having a suspicious spot on his left breast checked. He was shocked when the diagnosis was breast cancer.

EVERGREEN – In general, the overwhelming majority of breast cancer literature, advertisements and awareness efforts focuses on breast cancer in women. Rightfully so, as women are by far the more likely to develop the disease.

But few may realize men can also develop breast cancer, and far less are on the lookout for the signs of the disease. Just ask 60-year-old Itawamba County resident Pat West, who received the shocking diagnosis roughly five years ago.
