AMORY – In the years since she was 45, not only has Brenda Boozer earned the designation of being a breast cancer survivor, she has used the experience as motivation to defeat Stage 3 lymphoma and colon cancer. Additionally, she has overcome a heart attack in the past two years.
In the course of her breast cancer journey, the Amory resident has become an advocate to help other people going through the disease. She served for years as a board member for the Women First support group, which branched out from Tupelo to a localized group in Amory.
Jewel Moore of Black Zion is a two-time survivor, who has been cancer-free since 2013. She will be 81 on Jan. 26. She is pictured with her granddaughter, Audrey Watson, in 2016.
