Crawford

JACKSON – The same day a federal appeals court denied the appeal of death row inmate Charles Ray Crawford, the Mississippi Attorney General asked the state’s highest court to set an execution date before the end of the year.

The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals denied Crawford’s latest federal appeal Friday, Nov. 22. About five hours after that ruling was posted, Attorney General Lynn Fitch’s office filed a motion asking the Mississippi Supreme Court to set a date within the next 30 days for Crawford to die by lethal injection.
